Subdrainage System – Universidad Intercultural Juan Santos Atahualpa, Junín, Peru
In 2023, a subdrainage system was implemented for the Universidad Intercultural Juan Santos Atahualpa, replacing traditional French drains with a more efficient solution. A total of 800 linear meters of drainage boxes were installed, optimizing the capture and conveyance of infiltrated water in critical areas of the site.
The implemented system achieved a hydraulic handling capacity of 200 cubic meters, significantly improving subsurface drainage performance. This solution not only increased efficiency in water control, but also reduced maintenance costs compared to conventional methods, contributing to greater system sustainability.
Subdrainage System – Tailings Facility 7, Julcani, Huancavelica, Peru
The subdrainage system installed at Tailings Facility 7 in Julcani enabled effective interception of the groundwater table originating from adjacent slopes. The captured subsurface flow was conveyed through the same system to pumping chambers, ensuring continuous and safe control of infiltrated water.
This geosynthetic-based solution strengthened the operational management of the tailings facility, optimizing its performance and extending its service life under controlled conditions.
