Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVDs) consist of a nonwoven filter that encloses a polypropylene core. PVDs are a soil improvement technique designed to accelerate the consolidation of soft and compressible soils. This system creates vertical drainage paths that facilitate the dissipation of pore water from the soil.
When combined with preload or surcharge, the time required to achieve the desired settlement is drastically reduced from several years to only a few months significantly optimizing consolidation timelines.
Advantages
Acceleration of the consolidation process: Allows soil layers to gain strength progressively in a shorter time, enhancing ground stability.
Control of differential settlements: Contributes to reducing settlements, improving structural performance.
Fast and efficient installation: Designed for simple installation, optimizing construction time and costs.
