Geosynthetics used in dam lining fulfill functions related to impermeabilization and erosion control. HDPE and LLDPE geomembranes are used to ensure waterproofing, prevent seepage, and protect the structural stability of the dam.
Their application may be implemented in the construction of new dams or in the rehabilitation of existing ones, either as a full lining system or to seal high-risk areas. They are installed over the embankment and represent a more flexible, durable, and cost-effective alternative to traditional methods.
Likewise, HDPE geocells filled with concrete constitute an excellent alternative to riprap as erosion protection systems, ensuring durability, efficiency, and reduced maintenance costs.

Pallcca Dam, Ayacucho, Peru
The construction of the Pallcca Dam in the district of Quinua–Huamanga, Ayacucho, with a total capacity of 932,312.77 m³, enabled the irrigation of more than 1,500 hectares, benefiting approximately 6,000 farming families from Quinua and Huamanguilla. This project significantly boosted agricultural production in the region.
During execution, geosynthetics such as GCL, geogrids, geomembranes, and geocells were used. These technical solutions contributed to expanding the agricultural frontier and optimizing water resource use, strengthening local economic development through more efficient irrigation systems.
