Rockfall control is a critical requirement in areas with steep slopes, rocky cuttings, or unstable hillsides. To address this challenge, passive surface reinforcement systems using high-strength polyester geogrids, as well as active systems with galvanized steel meshes, represent effective, safe, and highly adaptable solutions.
These systems are used to prevent detachment and maintain terrain stability. Both materials offer excellent reinforcement capacity; however, final selection depends on the specific geotechnical, climatic, and operational conditions of each project.

Rockfall Control with Biaxial Polyester Geogrids – Costa Verde, Lima, Peru
Slope Stabilization – Costa Verde, Lima, Peru
To stabilize the exposed cliffs of the Costa Verde, a high-durability technical solution was implemented combining steel meshes with passive anchors and green geomats. This technology effectively controlled rockfall in an area highly exposed to humidity, salinity, and climatic variations, ensuring protection of coastal road infrastructure.
Green geomats not only mitigated surface erosion from early stages but also promoted natural revegetation, visually integrating slopes into the urban landscape. Ease of installation, low environmental impact, and long-term sustainability positioned this solution as an efficient and functional alternative without compromising safety or aesthetics.
Rockfall Control with Biaxial Polyester Geogrids – Costa Verde, Lima, Peru
On the Costa Verde cliffs, a system of biaxial polyester geogrids was implemente as an effective rockfall protection solution, ensuring controlled guidance of falling rocks and significantly reducing the risk of impact on the expressway below.
These geogrids, characterized by high tensile strength, structural flexibility, and regular apertures, enabled rockfall to be directed toward safe dissipation zones without compromising infrastructure or road safety. Their adaptability to irregular surfaces and proven durability under demanding climatic conditions position this solution as an optimal, low-maintenance alternative for active protection of coastal slopes in challenging urban environments.
