This system is designed to control erosion in areas where water flows from culverts discharge. This type of solution combines the use of geocells and energy-dissipating dies, which act in a complementary manner to reduce water velocity, dissipate its energy, and confine soils and concrete, thus preventing the loss of natural terrain material. Once implemented, the stability of road structures is maintained, especially on slopes or critical areas exposed to accelerated erosion processes.

conditions were identified in areas near the culverts, where the natural terrain featured very fine-grained and highly erodible soils. This situation represented a critical risk of material loss and possible road collapse, especially during rainy seasons or under the constant flow of water. Therefore, as a definitive solution, the lining of the surrounding slopes and the base of the water outlets were designed using geocells.
This system allowed for the creation of a flexible micro-slab-type protection system, with greater tolerance to differential settlements than conventional rigid structures. In addition to its technical efficiency, the solution was less vulnerable to vandalism, offering greater durability and reduced maintenance requirements in demanding rural environments.
