To address erosion control challenges on slopes, specific solutions are implemented based on terrain conditions and project objectives. Temporary geomats provide initial protection while vegetation becomes established, whereas permanent geomats ensure long-term stability in areas requiring sustained
intervention.
Additionally, hydroseeding facilitates rapid revegetation using endemic species, while geocells filled with organic material ensure soil confinement on steep slopes. This promotes vegetation development and reduces surface runoff. These solutions may be applied individually or in combination, depending on erosion type and the required level of intervention.

Slope Revegetation – Costa Verde, Lima, Peru

Slope Revegetation – Costa Verde, Lima, Peru
Along the Costa Verde road corridor, a system of geocells filled with topsoil was implemented as a technical solution for revegetating slopes located beneath elevated viaducts, mitigating the visual impact generated by concrete structures.
The three-dimensional design of the geocells enabled effective confinement of fertile soil on steep slopes, facilitating progressive vegetation growth.
This intervention not only increased surface stability against erosive processes but also integrated green areas into the urban landscape, enhancing environmental comfort and aesthetics in one of Lima’s most heavily trafficked coastal zones.
