Gravity walls built with geocells are a modern and efficient solution for soil retention works. These systems are composed of three-dimensional panels made of high-density polymer HDPE, which, when expanded, form honeycomb-like cells. These cells are filled with site soil, gravel, or concrete. Thus, the cellular structure confines the fill material, significantly improving its mechanical behavior. This allows the wall to withstand lateral loads mainly through its own weight, providing effective and lasting stability.

TECWEB Wall - ArcelorMittal, Brazil
In the slope control project executed for ArcelorMittal, located in Brazil, a structural solution was developed consisting of four levels of TECWEB walls with geocells, configured to provide stability under demanding geotechnical conditions. The three-dimensional geometry of the cells allows for efficient confinement of the filling material, which enables the use of available soil on-site, significantly reducing the costs associated with the selection and transportation of aggregates. This technical decision proved key given the type of soils present in the area. The system’s strength is based on the improved mechanical behavior of the filling, generating pseudo-cohesion and allowing for the formation of robust and stable structures. Additionally, the constructive simplicity of the TECWEB wall favors its implementation without requiring specialized labor, which increases its competitiveness against conventional solutions in large-scale projects.
TECWEB Wall, Chilca – Lima, Peru
In the context of the excavations executed for the infrastructure of the Kallpa thermoelectric power plant, in Chilca – Lima, the perimeter fence was exposed to instability conditions that compromised its structural integrity. Facing this situation, a TECWEB gravity wall was implemented as an efficient, safe, and versatile containment solution for the operating environment. This structural system, composed of three-dimensional geocells, offers a flexible and quickly installed solution with the ability to integrate with different types of filling, such as soil, soil-cement, or concrete. Thus, the use of concrete was chosen as the filling material, maximizing the wall’s resistance and durability. The versatility of the TECWEB system, along with its compatibility with locally available fills, allowed for optimizing execution times and ensuring slope stability, consolidating it as a reliable and safe technical solution against geotechnical challenges in industrial plants.
