Channel Lining

The use of geosynthetics in the lining and protection of hydraulic channels has become established as an efficient alternative to traditional methods, particularly in contexts where erosion control, surface stability improvement, and optimized construction timelines are required. Among the most commonly used solutions are geocells, concrete mats, and textile formwork, each with specific structural and hydraulic characteristics that enable their application in different channel types and flow conditions. Geocells provide three-dimensional confinement that increases resistance to flow-induced shear stresses; concrete mats offer a thin, durable lining with rapid installation; and textile formwork allows the formation of in-situ molded concrete sections. These three technologies represent versatile options to ensure hydraulic efficiency and long-term protection of channels subjected to erosive processes or significant hydraulic loads.
