The stabilization of granular layers using slow-setting asphalt emulsions enables a comprehensive improvement of their physical and mechanical properties. This solution increases the structural stability of the treated layer, enhances densification, and preserves integrity under moisture-induced conditions. As a result, a stronger and more durable base is achieved, well suited to withstand demanding traffic loads and climatic conditions, thereby reinforcing the overall performance of the pavement structural system.

As part of the Interoceanic South Highway megaproject, concessioned by IIRSA Sur, various technical solutions were implemented to improve the road corridor. Among them, granular base stabilization using slow-setting asphalt emulsion was carried out, a technique that enhanced material cohesion and increased its structural strength. This intervention was key to ensuring long-term pavement performance on a high-demand roadway, optimizing its behavior under moisture conditions and contributing to a more stable and resilient platform for the upper pavement layers.
Challapalca – Apacheta Section, Tacna, Peru
On the Challapalca – Apacheta highway, base stabilization using slow-setting asphalt emulsion was executed in collaboration with Consorcio Santa Rosa. This technical solution improved the structural strength of the granular layer, ensuring a more cohesive and durable platform for the upper pavement layers. During the inspection conducted in June 2025, the integrity of the treated section was confirmed, validating the effectiveness of the applied treatment under the area’s demanding climatic conditions.
Trujillo – Shorey Section, La Libertad, Peru
On the Trujillo – Shorey roadway, base stabilization was performed using slow-setting asphalt emulsion, in coordination with Obrainsa. This technique significantly improved the cohesion and mechanical strength of the granular layer, optimizing its performance under structural loads and demanding environmental conditions.
