The Benavides Grade-Separated Interchange included the construction of a false tunnel with a total length of 820 meters (including access ramps), designed to directly connect vehicular traffic from Panamericana Sur (north–south direction) to the district of San Juan de Miraflores. The objective of this project was to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion along one of Lima’s main arterial corridors.
As part of the project, the interior tunnel lining was executed using vitrified steel panels, installed over a load-bearing structure composed of galvanized steel profiles, mechanically anchored to the tunnel walls. In the interior section of the tunnel, the installed panels reached a height of 3.257 meters, mounted on a 1-meter-high concrete plinth. For the entrance and exit ramps, variable-height panels were used, adapting to the geometry of the alignment and ensuring uniform integration.
In total, 4,508 m² of panels with a RAL 9016 white finish were installed, featuring a gloss level between 80% and 95%, ensuring not only a highly durable aesthetic finish but also optimal visibility and cleanliness conditions within the tunnel.
