This project, carried out in Lima on a section of road operated by Rutas de Lima, involved the first implementation of a gap-graded asphalt mix (SMA 8), recognized for its high performance on high-traffic roads.

To enhance its properties, stabilizing additives, adhesion promoters, warm mix technologies, and polymer-modified asphalts were used, resulting in a comprehensive solution that strengthens the pavement’s durability, adhesion, and mechanical performance.

The hot mix asphalt was applied using a highly polymer-modified asphalt, selected to meet the project’s demanding requirements for heavy traffic, variable weather conditions, and low operating speeds.

This solution increased the pavement’s resistance to fatigue, rutting, and premature aging, ensuring superior performance and a longer service life in a high-stress environment.
